Courtyard House
A compact plan that uses a planted courtyard to pull light deep into the interior and create privacy on a dense urban lot.
Intent
The client asked for a calm home with strong daylight and a sheltered outdoor room. We organized living spaces around a courtyard that behaves like a “light well” and a garden at once.
Openings are calibrated for privacy: larger apertures face inward, while the street facade is composed of smaller, deeper reveals.
Approach
The structure is a simple grid to keep construction straightforward. Built-in joinery defines circulation and storage without adding visual noise.
